Hello Affiliate Summit Friends!  Are you ready to hit Las Vegas and the most exciting conference of the year?  I arrive in Las Vegas tomorrow morning so if anyone wants to hang out for the day, just hit me up, especially if you like playing Blackjack!

I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired from the bug I picked up during Christmas in Lake Tahoe and don’t want to share it with you all,, and I sure don’t want to catch the “Conference Crud”  so I went for a B12 shot and Myers Cocktail yesterday.  Hopefully this will boost my immune system enough to get me through the late night parties and early morning sessions!

This is the first time in 6 years I won’t be “working” as the Affiliate Summit Blogger Lounge Mistress and I’m really looking forward to attending sessions, learning from the experts and just hanging out.  You’ll definitely see me in the Blogger Lounge where Heather Diamani will be hosting the Press Pass holders.  I’m excited to meet the new “Heather!!!”

Speaking of Press Pass Holders, many people want to meet the elusive bloggers.  I receive requests for a “list” of bloggers every conference, and I receive spam emails from companies fishing for free coverage of their programs, or companies wanting to do blog post exchanges.  There is NO list of bloggers. The blogger lounge is set up for the bloggers to have quiet time to write their blog posts/press releases, relax, network, hold meetings and network with other bloggers.  It is NOT an area for agencies or merchants to pitch their products.  So, how do you connect with bloggers?

My advice is to talk to attendees wearing the pink “Press Ribbon” on the Affiliate Summit Badge, during the Meet Market, in sessions, in the hallway or in the Exhibit Hall  – those are the credentialed bloggers/press who are at the Summit.  They typically write about sessions, the Meet Market, the exhibitors, the products or services offered, and the events they find to be newsworthy.  Many bloggers will write about your product or service as long as there is no “heavy hitting” sales pitch and of course we all enjoy reciprocity, in the form of relevant links, products or cash!

See you at the BEST affiliate marketing, networking conference of the year!

Share A Sale Guitar

Share A Sale Guitar

The Share A Sale Party was a huge take-over of the Hard Rock Cafe on Market Street during ASE13. It was a great venue with 2 separate party rooms, one with live music – and the band was really good. Did you sign the two black guitars? That was a cool touch, in keeping with the Hard Rock decor. There were tons of Elvis/Elton/Rocker glasses for the guests and guitar picks on chains. For the really hard core rockers there were stick on rose tattoos. Some of the costumes were well done – so well done, I had no idea who they were  until the next day – especially the Blues Brothers, Elvis, and Slash. Dee Snyder, Purple Rain, Curt Cobain and a Biker Chick were easy enough to identify – lol. I believe Missy Ward and Kim Rowley won for best costume.  It would have been a tough choice for the judges as there were plenty of “would be rockers” grooving to the music! Thanks Share A Sale – you always throw the most awesome parties at Affiliate Summit.

Hello Affiliate Summit 2013 Philadelphia!

Affiliate Summit East 2013 Philadelphia

Affiliate Summit East 2013 Philadelphia

It’s great to be back on the East Coast, especially in a city with so much history, but being a west-coaster and Canadian to boot, I knew next to nothing about Philadelphia. Kim Rowley organized a “Philly by Night” trolley tour and it was a great learning experience and so much fun to spend time with a group of bloggers, affiliates and friends.

If you have a press pass and are covering news of Affiliate Summit or blogging about the sessions, drop by the Blogger Lounge in room 123 (behind the registration area) to work, set up meetings, plug in and recharge, or if you just need some relaxation time drop by to say hi. I’ll be happy to help you with information, introductions and help set up meetings. This is my 11th time hosting the Blog Lounge and I love my job of connecting people!

Expect the unexpected in the Blogger Lounge – Syed Balkhi just dropped by and shared his new WordPress Plugin – Floating Social Bar – see right above this post, you can share my post on Facebook, twitter, linked in or google+. If you have a Pinterest account, you may enable that too. This is such a simple, effective plugin and was very easy to set up. I even found a little glitch for him to fix – lol – I’m good at picking up on minor details! You can check it out how the bar looks on this post or on Syed’s site WPBeginner. Syed also showed a few of us bloggers a new program he’s developing – it looks pretty exciting, but I’m sworn to secrecy for now. I hope to share news of it soon!

Grey seems to be the new black this year in promotional t-shirts. John Chow and Oscar Gonzalez came in to the lounge with a bag full of cool swag and numerous grey shirts – from hostgator, bluehost, and aweber. Tapjoy wins my vote for their beautiful orangey red, super soft shirts!

Ready to get your game on? John Chow is ready to defend his Othello Championship…
