Mmmmmore Manatees

Being this close to the Manatees was amazing.

Prior to this I’d only see their backs as they swam in the Intracoastal Waterway, usually hanging around the pilings of the bridges.

They are fascinating to watch even though they are rather ugly. Apparently the sailors of long, long ago called them ‘mermaids’ (well, that’s the story I heard). If that’s what they compared the woman of their dreams to, their ‘grogg’ must have gone ‘off’ or they were blind drunk!

Cool photos. I love Manatees. I have never seen one, but I really like the way they move.

Wonderful photos of the manatees. If the sailors likened the manatee to women, the women of the day must have been really ugly, haha. I think the manatee are beautiful for manatee, but not for human women.
