Please read this great Guest Post about River Cruising Eastern Europe. Friends of mine have done it and loved the laid back, easy atmosphere aboard a luxurious ship with top-notch service.
A EUROPEAN RIVER CRUISE IS TODAY’S BEST VACATION VALUE!
· Ocean cruise ships cannot go on rivers
· River cruises are all inclusive vacations
· Great food on river cruise ships
· River cruise ships are never crowded!
We never dreamed we could be as happy as we were when we returned from our first Danube river cruise which took us too many delightful places.
What we discovered is that this vacation really suited our lifestyle, not stuffy or pompous, but gracious and profound. The entire staff of our Ama Waterways ship was remarkable. The service they provided was top notch, but never intrusive or over the top – they were really warm and friendly from the get go. Even better, by the end of the first day they knew our names, and our favorite beverage.
We’ve been on many ocean cruises, you know the ones I mean, ships with 3000 or so people you never see except when rushing to get off the ship. And a crew, who at best, know you as a “tip” or a smile. River cruises are the best values because they also include ALL your shore excursions and some even have a “no tipping” required policy.
Ocean cruise ships carry up to 3600 guests plus crew, river cruise ships generally only accommodate about 150. River cruise ships are very luxurious with many offering private balconies and butler service should you need it. They go to places that big ocean going ships cannot on an Eastern Europe river cruise, like Vienna, Heidelberg, Budapest and down the Moselle River or to the food capital of France, Lyon.
Okay, less we save the best for last – the cuisine [food to me] was extraordinary, you know the kind of dinners you pay $150 or more for at home. Even better, each night they served us unlimited wines from the region we were sailing through, all included in our very affordable price. Each night we had an array of menu selections, even had a carving station where they offered up an entire leg of Parma de prosciutto ham, sliced for each guest and offered up with an incredible selection of local fresh and aged cheeses – need we say more!
We also found it very convenient and easy to get on and off the ship as many times as we wanted. Because river cruise ships dock right in the center of things, it’s easy to come back as many times as you need too.
We enjoyed our cruise so much on Ama Waterways that we’re already thinking about our next trip. This time we’re going a bit exotic, probably going to take a Yangtze River cruise or a Mekong River cruise, again on Ama Waterways.
