Eric Schechter and Murray Newlands hosted their second BlogUp event, at Affiliate Summit West. There were 60 – 80 people attending and the plan was for us to meet in the Voodoo Lounge on the 50th floor of the RIO, have a few drinks, meet and greet other bloggers and form new friendships with like-minded people.
The view from the glass elevator was stunning at night, but scary too. I don’t really like heights but glanced out. Unfortunately, when we arrived on the 50th floor, we were greeted with the bad news that the lounge had been double booked and we were being moved to the iBar. After much confusion, some negotiation and a few tweets we were all on our way back to the iBar to find 5 icy cold bottles of champage awaiting our arrival, a lovely seating area and the most helpful staff. Of course we all fell in love with the lovely Miss Sara, our waitress.
The tweets were soon going out as #RIOwin as we enjoyed our champagne. I met quite a few bloggers who I hadn’t run into before – and it was a great way to get to know them and learn about their blogs and success.
The BlogUp has only two rules – you must be a blogger and there is NO selling. This get together is strictly for networking and collaboration. Hopefully Eric, Social Media Manager for Clickbooth, and Murray, Best Blogger Pinnacle Award Finalist, will carry this on at all the upcoming conferences as everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
