Hello Affiliate Summit Friends! Are you ready to hit Las Vegas and the most exciting conference of the year? I arrive in Las Vegas tomorrow morning so if anyone wants to hang out for the day, just hit me up, especially if you like playing Blackjack!
I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired from the bug I picked up during Christmas in Lake Tahoe and don’t want to share it with you all,, and I sure don’t want to catch the “Conference Crud” so I went for a B12 shot and Myers Cocktail yesterday. Hopefully this will boost my immune system enough to get me through the late night parties and early morning sessions!
This is the first time in 6 years I won’t be “working” as the Affiliate Summit Blogger Lounge Mistress and I’m really looking forward to attending sessions, learning from the experts and just hanging out. You’ll definitely see me in the Blogger Lounge where Heather Diamani will be hosting the Press Pass holders. I’m excited to meet the new “Heather!!!”
Speaking of Press Pass Holders, many people want to meet the elusive bloggers. I receive requests for a “list” of bloggers every conference, and I receive spam emails from companies fishing for free coverage of their programs, or companies wanting to do blog post exchanges. There is NO list of bloggers. The blogger lounge is set up for the bloggers to have quiet time to write their blog posts/press releases, relax, network, hold meetings and network with other bloggers. It is NOT an area for agencies or merchants to pitch their products. So, how do you connect with bloggers?
My advice is to talk to attendees wearing the pink “Press Ribbon” on the Affiliate Summit Badge, during the Meet Market, in sessions, in the hallway or in the Exhibit Hall – those are the credentialed bloggers/press who are at the Summit. They typically write about sessions, the Meet Market, the exhibitors, the products or services offered, and the events they find to be newsworthy. Many bloggers will write about your product or service as long as there is no “heavy hitting” sales pitch and of course we all enjoy reciprocity, in the form of relevant links, products or cash!
