Marketing to the ‘Buying Power’ Woman

I think Sara Anderson from Clickbooth hit the nail on the head with her recent post about marketing to women in the 35 -55 age group. She discusses the demographics of this largest group of online buyers, categorizing them as: Single Mothers, Stay at Home Mothers, Working Mothers, Married Women without Children and Single Women, not Married, without Children.

Clickbooth – Make Money!

Sara shows a great example of the correct way to market to women. You must speak their language if you intend to create a successful marketing campaign. Sara used this example to highlight the ‘correct’ way to engage a woman:

“The 6 step business program empowered Renee to take control of her financial future, and thus the needs of her family.” Feminine – relates to target market. Good.

Is far more effective than:

“The 6 step business program gave her the power to take control of her financial future, and thus the needs of her family.” Masculine – relates to men. Bad.

Yes, Men are from Mars!

You’ll see in my title I used the word “Power”. I intentionally used that rather than the word “Empower” because it’s a masculine word and I wish to see if it attracts more male than female viewers to read this post. I also hope you will ALL take the quick IQ test above to see how smart you are – and be sure to leave your score in a comment ;)

I’m really looking forward to Sara’s post next week titled, “How do I increase conversions?” I think there are many women in the 35 – 55 age bracket that want to know exactly how to become successful affiliate marketers, and they have the connections, support and authenticity to market to their peers.

Knowing as much information about your target audience is what makes the difference between sales and no sales. Thanks for the information on this topic.
