Repairing the Woodshed Roof

Repairing the Woodshed Roof

Pop says it’s going to snow by the weekend, so he wanted to get a load of firewood ready in the box trailer, and stored in the garage. Once we have snow on the ground he can’t make it up the hill in his scooter (carrying wood) and I won’t be able to push the wheel barrow up the slippery slope either. The garden tractor will easily tow the trailer up though, so we’re all set.

I parked our two vehicles on the hill in the driveway so if it does snow all I need to do is move them both and we’ll have a ‘mostly’ clear pathway to the garage. LOL – Pop has lived here in Egmont for nearly 70 years so he has all the angles figured out to make life as easy as possible. I learn from him every day!

While we were outside, I helped Pop with a small repair job to the tin roof on the woodshed. He bumped it with the backhoe a few months ago when someone neglected to give him the correct ‘jiggers’ and it’s been bothering him as a tall person could bump their head – and it looked bad too… Who knew? You use a couple pieces of wood and two big boat clamps to straighten tin roofing… not me – but Pop instructed me and the roofing is fairly straight once more.

I also fixed the garage roof where the wind damaged the metal roofing. It still needs a couple of screws to secure the roofing but for now at least it won’t leak. The shop roof is another matter – I don’t think I’ll be able to do it – it’s going to take a couple of strong men!

Hugo played on the beach, chasing fir cones, the ducks and sticks. He also modeled his new red coat. Doesn’t he look proud? I think it really helped to keep him warm too. We were all glad to get back inside to the warmth of the wood fire after an hour and a half out in the cold.
