Adtech New York City at Javits Convention Center November 4, 5 and 6 2009

Recently someone on Twitter posted a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt which read: “Do one thing each day that scares you!” That simple saying made my decision to attend Adtech in New York City much easier.

Adtech New York is a 3 day conference at the Javits Center, devoted to exploring and understanding “How Digital is Transforming All Media”. Seminars will cover topics ranging from online video ads to social media to multi-channel marketing with over 200 speakers in 60 panel discussions.

250 exhibitors will be present in the Expo Hall and Keynote Speeches will be delivered by speakers such as Sir Martin Sorrell, Chief Executive of WPP, one of the world’s leading communications services groups, Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia and Jonathan Miller Chief Digital Officer, Chairman and CEO, Digital Media Group. If that’s not enough to keep you busy, expect a few ‘exclusive parties’ and lunch forums!

Now, I’m not saying there’s anything ‘scary’ about attending Adtech – to the contrary, it’s exciting to take part in such a learning experience, peopled with the movers and shakers of the advertising/media world. I was apprehensive about traveling on my own, making my way to and from the airport, finding my way around the city, leaving Pop again so soon after being away for IZEAFest and catching the H1N1, plus a multitude of other uncertainties. After reading the above quote, talking to friends who are attending Adtech and scooping the biggest plum in my little blogging career, I realized it was okay to be apprehensive.

This morning, I booked my flight and hotel and am about to start reviewing the schedule to determine which panel discussions I want to attend and review.

To make a long story short, while attending Adtech, little old me from Beautiful BC will be writing a number of posts about the conference, the seminars, the speakers and events, to be posted on the Adtech Blog, thanks to my friend Steve Hall!

Now, if that’s not enough to make a person nervous, I’d have to suggest checking your pulse!

See you in the Big Apple November 3 to 8!

I’m so happy for you! You, apprehensive? You put on a good show because I’d never think that, really. So put that lovely smile on your face and go for it. Write your heart out too! No designated drinking for me though. Maybe you can find someone else to do that for.
