Sunshine Coast Wooden Boat Festival in Madeira Park August 1, 2 & 3, 2009
The Egmont Heritage Centre has a booth at the Wooden Boat Festival in Pender Harbour. Tom Lavis the manager of the EHC set up, and is manning the booth until Monday. He has his dinghy ‘… and her dog Spot’ on display along with old engines, boat building tools, and he has enough knowledge about wooden boats in his head to fill a library.
Can anyone guess what Tom’s boat would be named???
I went to Madeira Park with Beverly and Jim Saunders this afternoon. Our plan was to give Tom a break from the booth and take him for lunch after we looked at the display booths and beautiful wooden boats – both old and new. You can see my album of pictures on Facebook, although there really aren’t any showing the beauty of the boats. What was I thinking?
We talked to various owners, admiring the workmanship, asking questions and enjoyed the slight breeze blowing off the Harbour on this hot August day!
