Fishing Gear at Kmart

Pop and I went ling cod fishing last week, and took along a couple of friends. Len caught a big cod but the old reel he was using was a knuckle-buster and he didn’t have the drag set correctly, so it spun out of control, creating a huge bird’s nest in the line.

Result: Ling cod wasn’t on the menu!

I did snap this nice picture of Len and Linda though – and you can see how corroded the reel is – it’s probably 25 years old and has definitely seen better days. Time for a new one, don’t you think?

Speaking of 25 years ago, remember the Kmart Bluelight Specials? I loved going shopping back then at Kmart, when we were buying so much fishing gear and boating equipment. Their sporting goods department was great and the Bluelight Specials were so much fun. And, it seemed every time we went fishing, we’d lose gear or break a rod, so I spent a lot of time shopping those specials at Kmart!

I have good memories of wandering the store, waiting for that blue light, then rushing over to the department.

Guess what? Bluelight Specials are back at Kmart – this Saturday, July 25 2009 they will have 40 great Bluelight Specials through the day as well as other special offers of course. I really hope this fishing reel might be on sale! There are no nasty knuckle busters on the reel and it’s heavy duty enough to smoothly reel in the big Ling cod.

Oh, and Kmart is right up to date with their marketing strategy – they are on Twitter! Please give them a follow @kmartdealsnnews for updates and specials.
