Affiliate Summit East 2009 in New York City – What to Wear?

“You only have one chance to make a good first impression!”

I was recently asked what type of clothing to wear to Affiliate Summit 2009 New York. I’ve never attended a convention in New York, but I’m thinking it will be no different than any other.

Wear clothing you’d normally wear to work. Wear layers and wear comfortable shoes – and carry as little as possible. You WILL receive a bag with brochures, pen, notepad, etc., when you pick up your pass and I have no doubt you will pick up tons of free SWAG from the display merchants. They always have the coolest new items and I’m always intrigued by the ingenuity of the marketers when they come up with unusual and useful items.

Dress up, dress down – you will see men in everything from jeans and tees to suits and ties, with lots of golf shirts thrown into the mix. Women wear jeans and tees, skirts, suits and dresses but mostly ‘casual business’ which means a nice pair of pants, capri’s and an appropriate top.

Be comfortable and be yourself. LOL – you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, my Grandma used to say! Project the image you wish others to see – and most of all – be respectful of the venue (after all this is the Hilton – and my idea of roughing it is spelled H – I – L – T – O – N), be respectful of the organizers, and the vendors. Mega, mega dollars are being spent to put this convention on for YOU and ME!

Be sure to bring all your glitzy jewels and glamorous clothes for the nightlife at the restaurants, clubs and exclusive VIP parties. I’m seriously thinking I NEED this amythest bracelet in my life. LOL – I already have the perfect LBD to wear it with!
