Cruising Aboard ResidenSea’s ‘The World’

It was a beautiful morning as I sat on the front porch, drinking coffee, overlooking Jervis Inlet, taking a few photos of the calm water, various boats as they motored past, and watching Hugo rolling in the grass, playing with his newest toy – a length of rope!
Something caught my eye and I looked toward Nelson Island and Captain Island where the BC Ferry usually comes through the gap every hour. Unexpectedly, there was a HUGE white cruise ship in the middle of the channel.

I started taking pictures and called ‘Pop’ to come see. You can see the rest of my pictures on Facebook. We’ve seen large yachts, military ships and tugs with long barges or log tows, but the brilliant white of the cruise ship really stood out. As we watched it, we had to laugh that the passengers on board were likely looking at the scenery and would notice Pop’s white house with green roof on the point. It really does stand out and is a focal point in Egmont! Here’s an aerial view so you can see what I mean!

This afternoon, during Happy Hour under the apple tree, we discussed the ship with friends and they said it was more than likely the ship belonging to ResidenSea. They had seen a special on TV about it and knew it had recently been in Portland Oregon.

At 1900 hours The World came back down Jervis Inlet, headed up Hotham Sound to view the glory of Freil Falls. We watched as it went out of view and I remembered I was going to ‘google’ the name.

Sure enough, when I looked up ResidenSea, it was the exact ship we’d seen! AND, it’s not a cruise ship at all, but a private yacht! The concept of owning a piece of this ship really attracts me – who wouldn’t love the idea of cruising the world in such opulence, seeing exotic places and enjoying the luxury.

I immediately sent them an email, offering my services as ‘resident blogger’ and ‘twitter queen’. If that’s not enough to make them offer me a ‘job’, my 96 year old handsome ‘Pop’ should clinch the deal. Every ship needs a white haired gentleman who loves to socialize and tell stories.

See you on the high seas!

Yes, it was the first time I’d seen a ‘cruise ship’ of that size come in here – and it looked like a beauty. I think I could live aboard ;) Thanks for sending the link on to your family. I appreciate visitors and commenters!!!
