Boating Season!

Good news and bad news coming up!
The good news is that boating season has seriously begun here in Beautiful British Columbia and Kent and I will be heading to Egmont to live aboard our boat, the Jervis Mist, for the next 5 months.
Our base is the dock at my ‘Pop’s place, where we tie and spend much of our time, helping Pop with the day to day maintenance of his property. He is nearly 96 and still operates a small campground business with a few long term customers and the odd weekender. Yes, seriously! At 96…
We prawn fish every day, going out in the morning to lift the traps, rebait them and reset them then cook up a big batch of fresh, juicy prawns to share with family and friends, freeze them or give them away. Yes, it would be much cheaper to go buy fresh prawns from the commercial boats, but not nearly as rewarding or as much fun.
We also go on day trips, weekend trips and month long trips on the boat. Pop occasionally comes with us, we travel with friends, or we go out for a couple of hours to pick oysters or dig clams. In June we will be going to Desolation Sound with friends who also have a boat – and we’ll do some serious R & R, partying and exploring for about 3 weeks.
So what on earth could be bad news??? The fact that I do not have internet service while at “Pop’s” is seriously bad news for me. I have to wait until we go out to certain areas on the boat, drive 4 miles to use my aircard or hang out at the pub or museum to use their wi-fi. AND, there just aren’t enough hours in my day to fish, work and keep up with my blogging and internet friends the way I’d like.
I will check email, Twitter and blog whenever possible – but I know from past experience it will not be regularly. Don’t feel too sorry for me, though, okay? I’ll try to have a good time – and hope you will still be a regular visitor here to check up on me
If you feel like prawns for dinner, give me holler – I’m never too far away!
