Big Dog ‘tude

Life isn’t always a:

Hugo sometimes gets a little too rambunctious for Buttons’ liking. Buttons looks like a 23 pound cat, but she has very long, thick hair and isn’t quite that heavy. Hugo is 22 pounds but he has a 65 pound ‘big dog’ attitude.
Our cats are used play fighting with Hugo and they know he won’t hurt them, but Buttons is the newcomer and she is not amused by Hugo’s nose in her face. She has very sharp claws and turned on Hugo and showed him exactly how she felt!

Hugo was crying, whimpering and shivering as he raced to Grandma for protection. He had at least 8 bloody marks on his face where Buttons swiped at him – and a bleeding lip. Luckily she didn’t get his eyes, but they were certainly watering and bloodshot from the extreme fight and flight.
I dabbed his little face with peroxide in the hopes none of the claw marks would get infected then called him in the living room for a rest. Hugo jumped right up onto the back of the couch where he knew he’d be safe and as he was laying his head down, the blanket he was lying on started to slip off the couch. Of course he had no traction and fell with the blanket, hitting his head on every window shutter, bounced off the baseboard heater and landed on his back on the hardwood floor. Ouch!
Talk about adding insult to injury. It was not a good Hugo day.
