Upsetting the Balance

I was having a fantastic day today – all my stars and planets aligned (or whatever it is they do when things seem good in the world) when I heard a crash. I heard Kent say, ‘Are you okay?” and I thought perhaps Hugo had knocked something over. It couldn’t have been something as simple as an irreplaceable family heirloom being broken.
Uhhhhh…. no – it was my shopaholicism getting the better of me.
Picture every piece of clothing, shoes, hangars, boxes, purses, belts, etc… jumbled amongst the pieces of shelving, hanging bar on the floor – my photo disappeared

The really frightening thing about this is I’m only photographing half my closet. I don’t dare open the other set of doors.

Don’t call me tomorrow okay, I’m going to be heading to the Thrift store with a BIG load… and really I won’t treat myself afterward by stopping at the mall – really I wont!
PS Here’s a tip from me (and yes, I should have followed my own advice).
Turn all your hangars around on the bar so they are facing opposite to the way you normally hang a hangar. As you wear a piece of clothing and wash it, put it back the correct way.
At the end of the year – any piece of clothing on the hangars you haven’t turned around correctly are probably never going to be worn again.
Only keep them if they are ‘special occasion’ wear, very valuable or will make fabulous costume wear at Halloween.
Take it from me – your closet may collapse. Twice.

I think you may want to reinforce your closet from here on out. LOL
ReplyOooh I hate when that happens! I had those stackable hangers- you know- the ones you can put 6 pairs of pants on- which made my whole closet collapse too! I usually go through a few times a year to find stuff for donation piles. I love your hanger idea though! I always debate giving away most stuff (the “I could wear this again syndrome”), but having more of a timeline for it will help. Thanks for the tip!
Reply@HeatherinBC I love the tip you have about turning around hangers.. great idea! http://bit.ly/yy0X

ReplyLisa, we did that last time it fell… you’d think I’d learn… it’s time to move

Oh MLDina, you make me feel so much better, knowing I’m not the only one who has this problem!!!
It’s hard to admit I have too much stuff… and I hate parting with it. You know – it’s GOOD stuff and I might need it someday…
Glad you liked my tip on the hangars
ReplyOh that happened to me once, and it wasn’t pretty.
