3 Foot Moderate Sea

When I hear the words ‘moderate sea’ I know it’s not going to be a good day…

I awoke just before daylight when Kent’s alarm rang. He sent Hugo off to do his business, made coffee and prepared to depart Egmont. As he fired up the engines and Hugo came back to bed, snuggling with me under the covers, I drifted off into dreamland. The bow of the boat plunging up and down into huge waves woke me the second time.  I wasn’t ready to drag myself out of bed, but knew I needed to move to a more stable area of the boat in these rough seas.

Nice start to the day – power boating in Beautiful British Columbia is always an adventure! Now I realized I was feeling woozy and needed to sit down before the motion of the ocean made me sick. I sat to have a coffee and watched as we plowed through the increasingly rough water, then suggested to Kent we didn’t ‘HAVE’ to make the crossing to Nanaimo ‘right now’. ‘Okay’, he said and turned to port, into the wind and toward calmer water. Secret Cove is a nice place to spend the day! We’re now tied to the fuel dock and I’m blogging. It’s a good day after all.
