Le Reve – A dream to be dreamt fully awake, eyes wide open.

Le Reve, which is French for ‘The Dream’ is a production of the Cirque De Soleil at the Wynn Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas. My friend and I saw it while Kent and her husband played the slots and ate free buffet dinners.
Yes, free! The Wynn offers free buffets when you sign up for their points card and rack up 25 points. I actually accumulated 50 points in an hour at the slots which would have bought 2 buffets. After the first two free buffets, it takes a LOT more points though – that’s the catch! But, these days in Las Vegas, there aren’t quite so many ‘freebies’ – and even this was not free as I poured money into the machines.
The guys enjoyed their meal and we enjoyed the show – tremendously. It was my friends first ‘Cirque’ performance so she was wowed. Actually I was too, but I knew what to expect. The stage is a pool of water – a deep pool, with layers which move up and down, allowing the performers to appear to be walking on water, swimming, diving, jumping and dancing.
The costumes and imagination of this performance were amazing. Being named “Le Reve” leaves the interpretation wide open to the viewer. What was the show about? We left, not really knowing, but having thoroughly enjoyed the acrobatics, costumes and uniqueness of the show.
The theatre surrounds the pool (stage) so there is not a poor seat in the house as far as I know. We were quite high up but were able to see everything. Neither of us wanted to be in the ‘splash zone’! No intermission interruped the flow, there was not a single break in action and some of the acrobatic acts were breathtaking. 4 clowns kept us amused and lightened the atmosphere at times from the intensity of the dream world.
I’d highly recommend any and all of the Cirque de Soleil shows – next on my list is the ‘Beatles’ show.

Looking forward to going to the Circus in Vancouver in June. I hope I have as much fun as you!
