Boating is Hard Work!

Whew, it took me a few days to recover from our wonderful month long holiday aboard our new Bayliner! Holidaying really isn’t ever a holiday in our family – it’s usually harder work than everyday life – but I can’t complain – who’d listen?

When our 5288 Bayliner arrives in Victoria in mid-May we will have a lot of work to bring it up to the standard we want – we need a new bimini as well as some other canvas work so I’ve been checking online to find companies which specialize in canvas boat covers. I’d really like to totally enclose the bridge as it would make a wonderful cozy area to sit on cool days. The least amount of sun immediately heats an enclosed area and it would also provide another ‘room’ for the children or grandchild to ‘camp out’ on warm nights.

BoatCoversAdvice.com has lots of great ideas for power and sail with information on various products and makes of boats. Sunbrella is a product we are very interested in for a covering for our carpet. When we are prawn fishing we have to be in and out the door – sometimes in a great hurry and can’t worry about taking off shoes – Sunbrella is a great product and looks fabulous. It’s also easy care while protecting the carpet, both of which make me happy.

This ‘boat’ project is going to take a lot of our time, but Kent and I both really enjoy being on the water, boating and fishing and will work at making improvements as we can afford them.
